Just doodling to pass the time and looking at the internals of OEX trading.

Total issued OEX shares as at 26 September 2014: 616,927,809 (from OEX web site)

Total shares traded in the most active recent period from 21 July (gas flare ....) to 5 August is ~100M.

Average daily trade vols for OEX on the ASX since 5/8 has been <500k p/d

The stacks (buys/sells) have been averaging <3M p/d (or <7M B+S)

OEX shares appear to be fairly illiquid at the moment, the price and daily vols have stalled awaiting direction/guidance.

So, how many do you reckon are held by private investors registered on HC? A wild guess <5% (~<30M)
....... how many held by active HC posters? Another wild guess, say <2% ......... maybe only 1%

Add in the number of private OEX investors registered on UK boards? .... maybe an additional ~7%, of which say ~2% are held by active posters.

Therefore, approx <96% of OEX shares are held by investors who are not active followers/participants of share discussion boards - the silent majority.

What can we say about the OEX sp and the silent majority of OEX holders?
- are they trapped in OEX?
- visionary?
- unwilling to sell at these low prices
- what price or market/company conditions would induce these holders to sell?
- is there anything else that we can infer/deuce about the owners of OEX?
