The US has already publicly stated it will not allow another nation to surpass it militarily and/or economically.
How they judge this and what kind of action they are prepared to take remain an open story thus far.
The Chinese have a way to catch up with navy might when you consider the US trident class of submarine - these alone are a formidable force (do a search on them and you will get an idea).
Having said that i do keep it at the back of my mind along with other indicators that should drive up the price of gold. So far i have no reason to believe these indicators are failing my judgement.
