I know the angle you are taking in regards to costs but it is good to know it is still stocked and selling IMO. It's all small shareholders can do as data points and neilson numbers have not translated to anything understandable relative to bottom line due to large and increased overheads relative to volume. .
Yowies previously failed arguments were that they needed wide distribution and stocking before they did promotion yadda yadda instead of doing more local targeted marketing they were IMO thinking they were a mega company and wanted to do countrywide promo . Either way penetration and follow up repeat sales haven't come through IMO and time has passed where Walmart will discount you Aisle ends to launch product etc etc. IMO opinion they failed in social media to create demand and interest to get volume required.
When yowie isn't stocked or have store position it will fail faster than currently doing if it can't expand its retail footprint and volume to a scale that can in any way justify costs.
With Australia I like to hear of stores stocking , expiry and turnover as if I see lower interest , slow penetration like in USA in Australia it will show teh world of surprise chocolate is problematic in mor ethan one country so either product or price isn't what consumer wants.
The days when we see reports of stores no longer stocking them ( like some IGA who seem not to stock, only a few reject shops stocking) and where in stores they are on display leads to knowledge about the demographic, profitability and sell through. If yowie can't hold its shelf space, store position it is obvious it is not profitable, in demand enough for the retailer to bother. If Yowie don't support launch with suitable advertising, promotion and social media interaction then it is just another item on a shelf no one knows about and will be relegated.
In Australia they need to have a very initially incentivised distributor prepared to share costs of promotion as pointless have a bus run around on set routes and no stock available on those routes IMO.
Yowie need volume now in USA , Canada, Australia. so I hope teh Canada launch is well thought out. .
WHSmith in Uk- ,Is this from the new duty free staff member or old work coming to fruition? WHS great trusted business, great footprint esp transport hub, hospital shop network is a great business Their airport stores have massive turnover from newspaper ,books and magazines , drinks sandwiches so get footfall. ...
Problem with WH Smith is their mainstreet demographic losing the under 30's who longer buy the magazines so don't enter the stores like they used to as they purchase large %% content online along with texts but WHS are moving with times. Hope the middle age and grannies buy up big. or maybe have a Yowie adult colouring book or is that another missed op.
Logistics and packaging requirements of UK and EU will give you the craps initially but OK when you get the hang of them. WHS also have a collection service so they don't run empty trucks back to warehouses ,(Birmingham, Dunstable and Swindon great for smaller suppliers) but not sure if they do that facility for cold chain..

UK ASDA also has obvious links with Walmart ( bought em in about 2000?) . Run seperately in each country but obvioulsy has access to data . Not sure if Yowie should go with the obvious launch partner initially at probably low margin to get a large UK footprint ( asda 2nd biggest UK supermarket) .If they can get good margin they must use links and get the volume sales and footprint. . UK is separate business but would obviously look closely at sucess/ failure sales of Yowie in USA and know there is a obvious 15 year old history when they were last sold there. .
