It is understood the pair, which has existing supply arrangements, is thinking about ways to split up the portfolio which includes Dairy Farmers and Dare among its brands.
The two bidding groups are expected to submit first round bids to auctioneer Deutsche Bank when the hammer falls on Friday, December 14.
They're seen as two heavyweight contenders, which have the strategic nous, potential synergies and financial muscle to get through to the auction's second round should they decide to swing hard.
