Watched an interesting segment on Landline on Sunday about the history of the Australian cattle dog.
Came with the heading : Tale of 2 tails.
A chap by the name of Guy Hull was interviewed and gave an account of the breeding of these dogs,
both the stumpy tailed version and the more common long tailed.
George and Thomas Hall started breeding back in 1825 and by 1832 were happy with what they had breed.
They became known as Hall's heelers.
Later to become known as blue and red heelers and then the Australian Cattle Dog.
Probably something anyone interested in could watch on iview.
Hope I've got things right because I was multi skilling at the time. LOL
Think Guy Hull is to release a book.
Because it is my favourite breed of dog, I do of course have a book titled :
The complete book of Australian dogs by Angela Sanderson.
Was a gift perfectly suited for me.

A dog I would not recommend for anyone who does not have time to properly exercise it.

Oh and can also be the first to spot a rise if you are fly fishing and frighten fish.
Mine thought she could do a better job than me and went flying herself into the river. LOL
