I prefer companies to make major announcements outside of trading hours so that all participants get a fair chance to absorb the content prior to resumption of trading. Announcing a document like a 20-30 page half yearly and resuming trading within 15-20 minutes doesn't make for an informed market.

Why do they need to announce it RIGHT NOW. The market isn't going anywhere, it will still be there tommorrow.
