Not much of interest from the EAPC making the press so far. The following is the most I've read about Tanzania so far:

"More than 400,000 square kilometers of sedimentary basins are currently being explored for petroleum in Tanzania, according to the Chief Exploration Geologist of the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC), Mr Kejo Kajato.

In his presentation at the fourth East African Petroleum Conference here yesterday, Mr Kajato said almost six decades of petroleum exploration has put Tanzania on the world map especially of natural gas, following excellent discoveries of four gas fields. The four gas fields are: Songo Songo Natural Gas (in 1974), Mnazi Bay Natural Gas (in 1982), Mkuranga Gas (2007) and Kiliwani North Gas ( 2008).

“Two of these fields are in commercial production (Songo Songo and Mnazi Bay), while two others (Mkuranga and Kiliwani) are undergoing appraisal,’’ he told delegates to the conference who included businessmen, researchers, academics and scientists. The current gas use was mostly for power generation for Mtwara and Lindi regions.

However, studies for use of gas for fertilizer and in cement production, for additional power generation and for petrochemical industries were underway. Mr Kajato added that currently 22 production sharing agreements over exploration areas covering onshore, offshore shelf and deep sea basins were operative.

“There are three licences still being negotiated over three of the inland basins,” he disclosed. Tanzania, he said, has seen an intensified petroleum exploration between 2000 and this year.“Tanzania remains one of the countries in the region with tremendous potential in natural resources and investment interest has drastically shot up,” Mr Kajato hinted."
