WASHINGTON – Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez skipped House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s emergency call on the Mueller report for Democratic House members Saturday.
Her spokesman confirmed her absence, saying the New York Democrat was busy with “various strategy meetings and other things like that.”
“We didn’t know about the call until 11 or 12 Friday night. And she had work in the district to do,” said spokesman Corbin Trent.
He added, “She’s satisfied with the information she’s gotten since the call.”
Pelosi put together an “emergency” caucus conference call to discuss the Mueller report making its way to the Justice Department.
Ocasio-Cortez spent last week in New York but has been cagey about her schedule.
She told The Post last week that “due to safety reasons” she wasn’t “allowed”
to release her whereabouts too far in advance, saying she received that advice from the Capitol Police.
The police wouldn’t comment on “consultations” given to members of Congress on safety issues. But one Democratic House aide called out the congresswoman, saying, “Capitol Police have nothing to do with the decision to have a public schedule or not.”
