1. Amazon is still starting up which will either be a fizzer (highly unlikely) or take 80% market share in the retail pet industry like what they did in the US.
2. Coles and Woolies are in direct competition in the pet food space with GXL. Plus GXL's food brand still has a long way to go in generating a meaningful amount of sales.
3. IMO, Vets are the only REAL competitive advantage that GXL has and I hope they look to put more focus on this area than retail. As a digital marketer by trade, retail (including eCommerce) is a race to the bottom with a lot of players coming into the market which not only includes Amazon but Alibaba with AliExpress.
Hopefully, management has the strategic capabilities to carve out a strong durable competitive advantage for GXL.
