Gunns will only survive if subsidised in the pulp mill. That is where the political will to spend money or waste it at taxpayers xpense so as to re-elected fly's in the face of governments saying we have to work smarter.
As stated before ANZ frog marched my trees into Gunns,on the emotional point you can thank the ANZ and the other club banks.
But let's be focused on this, why did ANZ do this to GTP,in that on there reckoning on the books what GTP wouldn't survive?,no it was not that I suspect.
You mention and others the GFC,I mention that the BANKS were more Xposed to unsecured loans and bad debts overseas than what has been told.
I question that needs to be also checked out, this smoke and mirrors on Gunns to balance it books by ANZ,and Gunns go crazy cutting down $300mil of forestry from the acquirement of the previous busted tree mob, forgot name--pays ANZ,then ANZ pipes up in great southern you are going into Gunns,ANZ had a voting right of rounded up of 30% in the schemes and needed it to get them trees into a new RE.
As a tree grower in plantations only I don't care about Gunnns and I would have copped the liquidation of the trees and land, and infact saw it a better long term as a collective to by the land also.
So in wood chip of time,
1 Gunns mill is not economically viable 2 Gunns has along history of poor enviromental management 3 Gunns need institutional investors, banks, super funds etc to prop it 4 Overseas pulp mills [refer to OPTO] have it all over Gunns and are further down the track in latest technolgy. 5 The Russians with yank money would crush Gunns into oblivion on pulp price and volume, just look at the recent comedy show with Lewy the bush fly,a minister of the state gives away 800K of chips,he should be pulped for that
The Gunns share price is artificaly propped, there is too much dross floating down the rivers now
Wake Up Australia!!!
