My brother-in-law just came through a bout of this same illness.
I thought he was finished, but he survived, but is still very sick several months later and has to have plasma? transfusions every few weeks.
Not sure if he'll ever fully recover.
It apparently was triggered from a bladder infection. He has described the pain as nothing he has ever experienced before. Every nerve ending is affected apparenltly. He was totally immobile, couldn't even move a finger.
