Id be suprised if 2nd gen thin film First Solar CdTe were as far behind the pack as you say they are - im not up with there current efficiencies but i do remember they were superiour to Si in the heat.
if you have a look on the renew economy website theyve just posted a story on Jinkos latest cells , ill try and find the link later , but these are what we have to beat , im impressed with the way they keep pushing the boundaries commercially - and we want these guys to fund us -
