I don't get it - why would the people who baulk at paying 15c for a bag, go shop at Aldi where, get this, customers also pay the same amount per bag?
Now, do some who go to Aldi load up their trollies and/or cardboard boxes instead? Sure. However, granted the choice, I dare say many Aussies couldn't be stuffed packing their own groceries away rather than the 16 year old behind the counter, all to save a total of $1. Even then, maybe they'll just bring along their recyclable bags and, problem solved, they have their weekly $1 expenditure back again.
When I think about it at a broader level - this whole bags situation might actually turn into a money spinner for Woolies. 15c a bag, plus all the trash bags that households will increasingly need to buy instead of using the old freebies.
