Wishful thinking and self deception are death to an investor..Unfortunately they are part and parcel of a positive psyche. I am an optimistic person. I don't get depressed, just sngry with myself when l make a mistake so, I've learnt the hard way on the stock market. Being cynically realistic is a much more profitable investing strategy so although joining dots may pump you up for a while and indicate potential, it falls short of factual evidence and is mere wishful thinking and its dangerous.When I revert to hope, I always remind myself of the punter with a desperately loading up on the last at Flemington in a vain attempt to get out on top after a day of bad losses.
