A model where Greatcell becomes the conduit and vehicle of choice for the practical deployment of constant advances in the real world by researchers would not only keep it at the forefront but also ongoing generate income. For this reason even Gratzel and co have an interest in keeping Greatcell afloat, whether they realise it or not  IMHO. A few million is neither here nor there for some of these research organisations who face a far higher price in both money and time by trying to re-invent the real world implementation expertise accumulated by GSL.
