The trial of failed agribusiness Great Southern Limited is continuing in the Victorian Supreme Court this week.
Great Southern collapsed in 2009, with more than 8,000 investors losing money.
Two-thousand of them have joined a class action against the company, seeking financial compensation.
They allege Great Southern misled investors by not disclosing the risks associated with managed investment schemes and the company's poor financial performance.
The action will also question financial institutions on why they issued loans to investors in the company.
The principal lawyer representing investors, Ron Willemsen, says the class action is for a period between 2005/'06 but more action is planned.
"We'll be filing other class actions concerning Great Southern managed investment schemes that were sold throughout the entire period 2005 to 2009 and the claims include a challenge to the validity of the loans and are seeking damages," he said.
