CHINA Magnesium Corporation says it is the first Australian company to commercially produce pure magnesium following first production of pure magnesium from new furnaces at its production plant in northern China.
CMC said commissioning of the plant had progressed as planned and initial production would be at a rate of around 2000 tonnes per annum of pure magnesium.
The company said it continued ahead of schedule to reach its planned first phase capacity of 20,000tpa of magnesium alloy production.
?Whilst others have tried, CMC is the first Australian company to achieve commercial production of pure magnesium,? CMC managing director Tom Blackhurst said.
?CMC remains on track to become a major magnesium producer using a simple, proven process in a region with good access to skilled labour, close proximity to feedstock and strong local demand for products.?
Shares in CMC have gained 1c to close at 31c.
