It was very complex and convoluted process with respect to SIR. I was interested in the company whilst they were still Croesus Mining (despite that company's chequered history!!). However, my interest increased when Mark Creasey (multiple recipient of "mining explorer of the year" award) did the deal with Apex and SIR was born from that. It allowed SIR to shift its focus to the Fraser Range, although that was not immediately obvious to investors at the time! Most of us were still holding out for a big gold discovery elsewhere. It was not until a few months before the discovery of what became known as Nova that there were serious hopes of a nickle discovery. Even then, only a few posters here on HC were mentioning Fraser as a possibility. The market was clearly taken by surprise.

The most telling observation at the time of the discovery came from Creasey and Bennett who described the Fraser Range as a NEW NICKLE PROVINCE. In the intervening years the market appears to have forgotten that declaration and the comparisons made to Voiseys Bay. I haven't. The geology, geography and findings to date by ENT and AON provide enough encouragement for me to think that this could well be the part of that "new province". Other explorers have so far drawn a blank but it is inevitable that there is more nickle to be found in the Fraser Range - hopefully it will be by AON! The results so far are far more convincing than those produced by any of the other nearology plays. I suppose it is a bit greedy to hope for more than one SIR in such a short time but with so few shares on offer now (post consolidation) and multiple prospects available, AON could become that second big win for a patient few.
