GP LINK, page-19

morning all,

I was speaking with Robert Read a few days back about the articles on the Minister of Health regarding chronic care costs etc..

I wasn't certain if MDR were across the latest or not - because when we met - ?? a couple of months back - I originally thought that medicare would be on the front burner and we were in with a chance of changes there.
My hopes were dashed and I posted as such here.

But, things appear to have changed with the Health Minister very hot on the tail of the costs of chronic care.

My understanding of what Robert says is that there is a huge focus on Medicare atm by the Govt..

Which was only news to me once I saw the articles - and, that RR believes that medicare was designed for acute care but, the majority of our health costs are managing chronic patients.

I believe he feels that GP link is playing right into the Gov. agenda here by Medadvisor providing Rx's (prescriptions) from a nominated GP without having to go and visit the clinics.

I believe he thinks that MDR have some ideas on how to activate the GP's and that every script that goes through Medadvisor saves the Gov. 37 bucks - so, there is a huge social impact bond because of MDR activities.

That's pretty much my understanding - and, I have to say if they do the job on the GP's that they have done on the pharmacies - well???????

where to? Down, doesn't seem much of a possibility in that light - for the business I mean - at least in the medium term anyway.
