There is reported to be “cautious optimism” from biotechs regarding the establishment of the Medical Research Future Fund but Jackie Fairley from Starpharma is worried that the government may neglect the commercialization side of the equation leading to “a lot of exciting discoveries that offshore companies scoop up and make all the money from.” It's a fair concern.
The R&D tax incentive for biotechs has been retained but is reduced by 1.5 percentage points.
