REASONS FOR RECOMMENDATION

Google, Inc. operates on an international basis and, as a result, the employees travel to Multi Drug Resistant (MDR)−TB endemic countries on a routine basis. Since tuberculosis is highly contagious, Google has asked the Public Health Department to perform QuantiFERON−TB (QFT) testing of its employees.

Due to the on−going, large volume of specimens Google, Inc. will be submitting for QFT testing by the Public Health

Laboratory, it is necessary that the County develop and execute this agreement which also addresses legal issuesregarding disease reporting responsibilities and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements.

Adoption of the resolution will enable the Department to execute similar laboratory testing services agreements with other private and public entities. This will enable the Public Health Department to identify and treat persons exposed to communicable diseases in a more timely manner.

I guess its only a matter of time before other US corporations follow and thereby provide ANOTHER impetus to the uptake of QFTG in the US.

The imminent FDA approval of QFTG-IT will open the floodgates in the US.

Add this to the wide and rapid uptake that we are seeing in Europe (they already have QFTG-IT).

In June this year Nippon-BCG take over distribution in Japan.
