The DRC government did not cancel mining rights. They are simply reviewing them currently to recommend whether any of them have unfair terms. To say Anvil has had mining rights cancelled is certainly not true and we need to watch this space with regards to that one. In any event there are a number of reasons why Anvil is unlikely to have these cancelled. Firstly they are one of few foreign companies in DRC that have actually complied with legislations. Secondly they give 10% of the profits of their first mine into a social development fund. Thirdly they have spent millions and will spend millions on infrastructure in the country (e.g. paved roads and power facilities etc.). Fourthly they negotiated a favourable tax agreement in return for providing the above and to attract foreign investment into a country which other foreign mining companies wouldn't touch with a bargepole. Fithly the government is continuously raising spurious tax bills against foreign companies in DRC, which they subsequently repeal or settle for say $10k when there original claims are for $100m. ETC ETC ETC.
I wouldn't read too much into the cancelling of contracts although you never know they may renegotiate some, e.g. an increase in net smelter royalties.
I am not sure this is a ramp, rather a blatant misunderstanding of the facts involved.
