I believe you are wrong, calf factory yes but live exports no.
Their is more profit in processed beef killed in your own abattoirs and exported via sea or air (for premium cuts). This process sustained the UK food industry with fresh meat from Oz and NZ for more than 150 years.
Live exports have an very bad reputation and don't generate so much cash. Much better to slaughter here and export the processed meat, as it creates added value and more jobs in Oz.
