More reliable than the new Boeing, the 737 MAX. The 737 was originally designed and built in the 1960s, its been upgraded and tweeked many times since but never fully re-designed. The latest version, the MAX, has enormously powerful large engines but these make the plane unstable in some conditions and Boeing had to add new software to control the plane and forgot to tell the pilots about it.

If Boeing were to design and build a new plane from scratch they could do a better job than the Chinese, but that woyld cost billions of $s and take at least 10 years.
