They backfill the adjacent Mt Charlotte underground mine with tailings.
A conveyor runs from the Super Pit to Mt Charlotte mine where they fill the tunnels, drives etc that are no longer required. Creates underground stability and disposes of the unwanted material - 24/7 operation.
A bit like how we expect NAG to get rid of construction materials (aggregate, sand etc.) from the heap leach pad etc from the old Nagambie Mine.
PASS will be trucked from the MMRT project to fill the East and West pits, and then aggregate, sand etc will be back loaded to Melbourne - great economies of scale and will keep the trucking costs down.
It wouldn't surprise me if NAG mgmt haven't already commenced those discussions with the project managers in the lead up to tendering for PASS contracts
