Very doubtful that it would play out that way. If you short the equities on a gold breakout above 1400 you'll surely blow up the account.
Gold ETFs have already diverged from pog anyway on a shorter timeframe.
Bad resolution pic but Senior gold miners (above) down 65% from 2016 highs when POG within 5% of same. If gold breaks they will have a lot of catching up to do. Fed dovish and winding back QT and potentially moving towards QE once again.
