    No because the shares aren't legally changing ownership. A substantial amount offending comes from Super funds. They lend out there holdings to shorters. You can actually tick a box on your super funds options not to use your stock for lending if you want. I must admit I have always found that a bit perverse that super funds lend your stock to people who want to short the same stock.
