I understand what you're saying, but the gold isn't just at that depth in isolation. Check out the mine plan in the bottom left of this chart - The far west lens is very close to the main lode and will only require a small extension to the mine..
I honestly wish people would do some research sometimes...
lets also not forget that they're likely to be processing very near-surface high grade copper at the same time
