I bet your conundrum can be undone by viewing politicians, even the green ones, grandstanding. I mean its so much easier to criticise this and that and so much harder (but useful) to implement solutions. I agree that it is so wierd that the Greens rarely take a positive stance on their core business.
Green energy can and will be adopted sooner rather than later by pragmatists and commercially so with positive outcomes for the environment ... increased use of gas for electricity production in the short to mid term, clean coal technologies and hotrocks in the mid to long term ... in the meantime all manner of alternatives no matter how fanciful should be considered.
