I think you are half right. If you look at course of sales there were some very large trades right at the start of the day. One at 10.04 - 79K for $888K in one trade - definitely a sell as 3 cents below other trades.
Given the predictable broker downgrades aside fro Citi, I think the insto's placed sell orders for start of day and then slowly the slack has been picked up by retail investors.
All borkers advising get out of regionals I can see. Sorry to labour this but where is the upside here - and I take the point made re divs but stocks just don't go sideways - they drift down until they find support and BOQ will only get that when it is as a reasonable discount to the majors
