To add there will always be winners and losers in any market. Take Opal Towers for example. If the footings aren't stuffed my gut feel is that insurance underwriters will ultimately have to pay for extensive load bearing workarounds in the structure (should that cost be less than the cost of demolition and reconstruction). Markets are emotionless. A current 50% discount could? represent value and should?? there be no further movement over the next few years values will creep back to the norm (whatever that is in a few years time).
The risk of course (there is always risk) is that the work-arounds don't work.
