I didn't notice the marketing angle before, yes you're right! Not available on older Exchange products but for free on 2016. If Dropsuite can be used in this way it isn't just a back up tool, it's a marketing tool to nudge users to upgrade to products with likely higher ARPU for the vendor...!!
