Well, if the international players are after Australian gas assets, perhaps the best thing would be to stay in the sector. Take your profits from AOE and put them into WPL, STO, ORG..... Every time one of the international players makes a grab, you'll make another profit, and you can move on to the next opportunity.
Can't blame Shell for offering what it did. It's paying what it has to to get its hands on the company and not a cent more. It's about business, not charity.
