Just re-read my post and it is not clear who I am talking about in 2 places. Here is an annotated version.
IMO, the only way the directors would recommend NOT to accept the FINAL offer of 1.85, expiring on 25/02 is if they have a very good reason to believe that a better offer will be made.
This better offer can not come from New Hope, as they have declared their bid final. So they [NEC DIRECTORS] must have a pretty good inkling that some attendant of the data room party is very close to making a binding offer.
If this turns out not to be the case, and New Hope walks away and SP drops, they [NEC DIRECTORS] could be IMHO held liable for breach of fiduciary duty and so on.
Therefore, I am holding and expecting developments as early as next week. SP indicates that people in the know suspect the same.
