Yurt head, what industry are you looking to get into?? Hydrocarbons or minerals? Typically people are one or the other and you can find it very difficult to cross over. I am a geo in the hydrocarbon world and work in Brisbane. There was a huge demand here for a while and believe there is still but may be starting to dry up a little.

I like jir's comments, the most painful thing about grads is their arrogance,'they think they know everything and they instantly think they are worth 200k a year. Like he said, head down bum up.

If you are thinking of hitting the hydrocarbon world, have a crack at mud logging. This is a great job, you will get to learn how a rig works, well site goes operate and companies like it. I would recommend doing it for 18 months to 2 years as a stepping stone. Talk to Geoservices about a role, they are based out of Adelaide. I did this for 2.5 years and loved it.

    Good luck
