I completely agree with the advice about saving your coin if you want to work in mining long term. I have been made redundant 2 times in 7 years, which has caused me anxiety about chosen career path.... 35 years to go....
Once you do get into the industry, and you will... Don't get complacent, do some post graduate study, get a quarry managers ticket ( you cant do this until you have a job), join mines rescue ... Any little thing that is going to make you more employable than the next guy/girl in the next downturn. Good references will go a long way and there is only one way to get those...
