I've already made my wealth from Property Developments, built subdivisions for a decade, now I beat the bank returns and really enjoy the thrill of success , Property was like a ratchet incrementally increasing , most taking a year in planning , 6 months in construction and 3 months in sales,, for circa 30% to 50% depending on location and demand,, very lumpy asset class... I truly love the liquidity of shares,, plus you guys have the Volume required to trade.
NZ is still like the wild west , the NZX still has horse hitches out front for the Cowboys to tie up to.. if you think ASIC is toothless the NZX is gumless...
Mind you I never lost a cent on property,,took me about a year to be simply OK at losing money here,,it's part of the game ,, I have met incredibly successful ASX investors/traders they pick 7 out of 10 winners...
I also enjoy doing the research on companies mainly Biotech,, couple of miners but they just drift along,, Biotech and Pharma are the Big Paydays ... just picking the right one and lumping enough money down to make a material difference if it successful..
Like many my portfolio is down circa 25% because of the general environment and last year lost spectacularly on a Biotech (never fall in love with a company) .
On days when the market is bleeding to death I'm lucky to be surrounded by freshwater rivers stocked with Rainbow and Brown trout... and have now learnt to loose money and make money,,,,whilst fishing... NZT
