The second link mentioned that many of the suitable locations would be in scenic hilly areas which would be a negative.
In the example I gave south of Sydney, there would be no negative effect as the ocean or mine shafts/pits would the lower reservoirs and an existing or abandoned reservoir would be the upper storage.
