I think they may have been trying to do the right thing by share-holders but the amount of manipulation that goes on these days obviously points to raising capital by other means is safer. It is rare, from my observations, to have a SPP such as this one and companies are now turning to these other means. 
The extra week because of postage problems has dragged it out and worsened things also plus shares across the board are down today.
Just have to ride it out, the fundamentals of the company are still good.
