Fast forward to 2019....and from April 1 hospitals in the UK will face fines if they fail to detect and treat sepsis (see Patientrack tweet below).
As Kate noted at last investor presentation, one important driver in adoption of Alcidion suite of products by technology laggards in hospital administration and management will be changes in the regulatory environment. We are starting to see this already with the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care introducing the hospital-acquired complications (HAC) list, which imposes financial penalties to motivate hospitals to ensure risk and safety management systems are working.
I think its been discussed here before - The Grattan Institute reported last year that 1 in 9 patients who go into hospitals in Australia suffer a complication, which equates to a whopping $4 billion a year in costs to the public hospital system. https://grattan.edu.au/making-hospitals-safer-will-save-taxpayers-money/
Strong incentive, I would have thought, to invest in systems like Patientrack and Miya precision that detect early warning signs of complications.
