Northern Beaches Hospital goes live

You may have noticed in the press that the new Northern Beaches Hospital in Sydney, opened its doors at 7am on 30th October 2018. The hospital is a public / private partnership and is operated by Healthscope, who sub-contract their Medical Imaging service to HealthCare Imaging Services (HIS), a part of Primary Health Care (PHC). The new hospital provides a diverse range of clinical services including:

• 488 Inpatient beds,
• 50 Emergency Department beds,
• 14 Operating Theatres,
• 6 Surgical Suites,
• Intensive and Critical Care Units, and a
• Mental Health Facility
• Medical Imaging, Pathology and Pharmacy

The imaging service is fully managed by the HIS team and uses its Promedicus Visage and Intelerad RIS/PACS Imaging solution. It was a fast start and within the first week of opening, all patients were transferred from Manly and Mona Vale hospitals on top of operating a 24/7 Emergency Department from day one. MKM Health has been instrumental in assisting HIS with all aspects of the IT implementation, project management, solution architecture and RIS/PACS release management, and has been involved throughout the project lifecycle including:

• Initiation Phase
• Design Phase
• Build and Test Phase
• Implementation Phase
• We have assisted with a wide range of deliverables including:
• IT business case creation
• Medical Imaging integration requirements definition
• Technical Solution Design
• Functional Design
• System integration design, build and testing
• Test, Implementation and Support plans
• IT Project Management
• and even occasionally assisting their 5-a-side soccer team!
