Sydney - Wednesday - September 13: (RWE Aust Business News) - Powerlan Ltd (ASX:PWR) reported net profit of $5.94 million for the year to June 30 2006 compared with $2.91m profit in the prior year. Revenue was $23.74m against $22.67m previousl. Powerlan is focused on five core software businesses now, Biztech Outsource, Clarity, Converter Technology, Garradin and IMX Software. It is reviewing and refining business strategies, and helping the subsidiary boards to implement these changes. It is optimistic that all the necessary hard decisions have been taken and the stage is set for significant regrowth of the business over the coming years. Next year the focus is on growth and it is expected to produce a substantial improvement in revenue at slightly better than break-even, with the following year producing further strong increase in both revenues and a positive and healthy EBIT. During the coming years the board may also decide to acquire more businesses that have synergies with existing businesses. However, acquisitions will not be made at the expense of maintaining adequate working capital or continuing profitability. If necessary, it may seek to raise additional capital.
