Thanks for the link ('Telstra to turn on ADSL for all').
If we are to assume that the infrastructure is in place, all have sufficient access and the technology in place is sufficient to allow movie downloads or video-on-demand, the next questions that come to mind are:-
- how big is the average movie (obviously there are different formats, so what's the likely range)?
- how long are downloads likely to take given the newly available infrastructure?
The current basic broadband plans available don't allow for huge downloads without escalating the monthly access price. Hopefully sizes will increase and prices will come down through technology and competition, but I'm wondering if in the near future the concept of regular movie downloads will incur extra cost from having to have more expensive plans.
Your thoughts and info if appropriate?
