Hi Joe, I agree, now is not the time for acquisitions. "Not so long ago those big goldies couldn't get out of their Oz operations fast enough" is an understatement! That's how NST got Jundee from Newmont, and EVN got Cowal from Barrick. But look at it these mines now and in just a short period of time too. I thank both Newmont & Barrick everyday for shooting themselves on the foot and giving my portfolio cornerstone gold companies like NST and EVN.
Unfortunately both are starting to expand and TBR seems sandwich between NST and EVN/Mungari operations. Let's see how that unfolds and happy to own both.
We need to be in a gold price slump again before I get very excited in regards to asset acquisitions like above. POG has a fair tailwind at the moment so I doubt that would be anytime soon. That being said though we have local goldies doing well without expensive acquisitions and on old ground too - SAR, AMI, and PNR. Well worth a small stake in if not for the possibility of assets becoming tier 1. Exciting times in the Australian gold space...
