This endless debate was started by our resident LT holder because he can't take the heat of a little bit of sell off and think his way or highway mentality. That is fine by me, I only analyse thought process but ultimately you cannot have a frank discussion with someone who knows where the price will be in the future.
Technical knowledge is built up over years of reading charts and listening to credible sources of opinions. I don't know what I don't know is very common when starting out and equally time consuming is how do I know what I am being led to believe actually works. There is no magic solutions especially trading and the more one persuade that they are giving you no brainer magic solutions in the form of technical tools, the least you want to spend time finding out. Keep it KISS system and everything simple. Less is more in terms of tools and its a matter of whether you are seeking leading or lagging indicators in a general term not specific to maths indicators popularly used by the the general public.
Two books that sticks out in terms of all the books I have ever read in this field of trading;
Stan Weinstein "Profiting is a bull and bear market", written in the seventies and is the bedrock of what I should IMO pick up reading at the start.
Mark douglas "Trading in the Zone" is another must read and least understood area of trading, Trading Psychology.
Dr Alex Elder "Triple screen trading" (It is either name of book or a big chapter in that book) or was it "Come into my trading room".
All very useful guidance but it is a concept rather than a strict methodology of rules making every reader rich and successful. Alternately you could use the buy and hold method with "research" leading to an accurate price discovery of a future within your boundary and sticking to it.
