After reading the article below I thought I'd have a closer look at FremantantleMedia. What an eye open so far, I had no idea how big FME are, thinking they must be a West Australian Film Company. (http://www.fremantlemedia.com/about-us ).

Anyway re reading the announcement, and marrying it with the artile it seems to take on a whole new light for me. A Company the size of FME setting up its own DVD label and using DES exclusively. DES already have DVD distribution infrustracture in place. I'm keen to investigate thing further as to the web side of this deal. (" Neigbours forums are huge"). It is also a good alliance that may allow DES to expand overseas. ( Bollywood would be nice, remembering Lachlan Murdoch is already keen). Anyway would welcome some more discussion on this deal as I think the ASX Media release undersold it........... .

    Cheers

And now for the article from india.

MUMBAI: Television format creator and distributor FremantleMedia Enterprises (FME) has set up its own DVD label in Australia.

The aim is to manage its home entertainment content in Australia and New Zealand. Shows such as Neighbours, Satisfaction and the Jamie Oliver franchise will be distributed via Destra Vision throughout Australia.

The label will be run by a local team who will work closely with Destra Vision. Although all titles will now be released through the new label, the company will still be looking to acquire new content locally, globally and, of course, from FremantleMedia Production Australia, specifically for this new venture.

FME senior VP, home entertainment and archive Pete Kalhan says that the deal is a great opportunity for FME to further grow revenue from DVD sales.

Destra Vision CEO Phil Maddison says, ‘FME is one the of world’s premier providers of filmed media. destra vision is thrilled to be appointed FME’s distribution partner in this territory and we look forward to a long and healthy relationship.’

FME CEO David Ellender says, "This is yet another example of FME’s commitment to developing relationships at grass roots level to ensure that we can continue to offer a fully rounded service."
