Salmon producers farming in Tasmania's Macquarie Harbour have been told to reduce their environmental impact.
The state's Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has released its first review since taking over control from a government department.
It found concerns over bacteria and oxygen levels.
EPA director Wes Ford said data showed conditions had worsened since last year.
"What it's showing is that there are four leases that are noncompliant with visual impacts, and also the level of oxygen is at a very low level in the deep waters," he said.
