Hi guys,
Just curious what everyone is doing with backtest data.
I note EA Lab doesn’t have a lot data (historical data only gies back to 2011, recent data only until june 18), they also don’t have tick data plus I am not sure who their data provider is or the quality of the data.
The alternative is either MT4 base data or setup a quarantined Mt4 backtest platform (seperate to the main MT4), similar to what tradeview instructs but again the data they provide is so limited. I have done some research and found some good articles and alternate data sources, so trying to get that right.
Thought I would ask here and see what others are using? Particularly those who use trade view what are your preferences for data?
On a semi-unrelated note, I feel like I started sprinting before I could walk with all of this EA stuff, I have ideas, research and to do lists coming out of my ears! Have pushed myself pretty hard last few weeks and I think now my brain is a bit fried. Got to try and find a bit of a reset and take things one step at a time... I’m hoping that once I finish blundering around with all of the tools i’ll have more clarity on the end to end process - working theory anyway
I just use Tick data from IC Markets but also match it with Tick data from Pepperstone. For me its just about getting models to Demo charts if the results look promising. However I would say it is taking me about 3 weeks to run a model through all pairs on a few time frames.
I still have my L plates on the testing side of things.
I do love the EA Analyser, smart piece of software.
