    In terms of long-term I agree with your statement but for news strategies, I just focus on the "now". Long-term fundamentals don't mean a thing - you're looking for it to beat or miss the standard deviation of previous results. 


    This year has been a shambles in terms of US politics mainly due to Trump being a loose cannon. I now trade the news on a "believe it when I see it basis". They can talk about who's going to win a share of what and what the fed is or is not going to do all they want, I really don't care. Until I enter the 'actual' numbers into my spreadsheet and it tells me to buy or sell, I don't have a bias
