I can see why people would be thinking that way after having a look at the GU weekly chart:
Obviously the current political instability in the UK over the Brexit issue is causing uncertainty which would negatively affect the GBP, and the weekly recovery trend that had established after bottoming in early 2017 has now clearly broken down reflecting that situation.
